Thanksgiving Harvest

Last week started off very busy with harvesting lots of vegetables for the special pre-Thanksgiving farmers’ market and CSA pick up.

Then Thursday it was time to relax by welcoming friends and family to the dinner table for Thanksgiving.  It was a fun day off for this farmer.  The table was filled seasonal and organic ingredients, many grown by my own hands The menu included roasted carrots, mashed potatoes, sautéed brussel sprouts, cranberry sauce with persimmons, mushroom gravy, mixed greens salad, turkey and of course pumpkin pie.  Not only did we spend the day cooking and enjoying local wine and beer but we also made a batch of homebrew to be ready for enjoyment at Christmas.
