We are still hoping for rain, I’m getting real tired of tending to the irrigation and drip tape on the farm. I look forward to the winter every year as it’s a time for reflection, daydreaming, and for not thinking about irrigation. Here in the arid west we spend all summer long programing irrigation timers, patching leaks, pulling drip tape straight, and trying to figure out what keeps chewing on the lines.

Winter rains are supposed to give us a couple of months break but this year seems to be different. It looks like we might possibly have rain in the future forecast, fingers crossed.

I’ve started to flip through seed catalogs (Fedco and High Mowing) and boy is it addicting. I continually have to remind myself that the farm has a limited amount of space and I can’t grow everything. But for a short while longer, I’ll let myself pretend I have acres and acres to plant.
