There is plenty of time to enjoy the late summer seedlings as they will stick around until we get a frost which for most folks on the Eastern Shore will typically be the beginning of November. Our fall and winter seedlings have no problem with cold weather and will happily live in your garden long after the frost has come.

The hot summer weather is sticking around and our tomatoes are loving it. We are still harvesting loads of cherry and heirloom tomatoes plus tomatillos and sweet peppers. We expect to continue to have tomatoes until the end of October or whenever our field gets a hard frost.

We love tomatoes which is one reason we grow so many, this year we transplanted over 1500 tomato plants into our field. We are growing about 20 different varieties of heirloom tomatoes in all shapes, sizes, and colors.
So to celebrate all the wonderful tomatoes our special this week will be an Heirloom Tomato Quesadilla. Our tasty heirlooms will be sliced up and laid on top of a delicious blend of cheeses with some basil leaves all served inside of a flour tortilla that has been cooked to crispy perfection.
This time of year our pico de gallo is an abundant mix of all the different heirloom tomatoes we grow. Make sure you swing by the farmers market to get a pint or quart of this delicious rainbow of tomatoes for enjoying as a snack or a side dish.
