Right now we are living in the cherry tomato rows harvesting pint after pint and tying up the plants weekly until they reach the top of our stakes. Most of our first planting has reached the top of the stakes but they are still growing. The plants just cascade over the last line of baling twine that we use to tie them up with creating a bit of a tomato jungle. It is hard to know where someone is in the tomato rows as it is just a dense wall of green when looking at our field. You have to look closely and wait for a head to pop up as they move down the row picking.

We are bringing loads of cherry tomato pints to the farmers’ market but if you are not sure what time you will get to the market on Saturday and want to make sure you can get a pint or two we recommend ordering ahead of time so your cherry tomatoes will be waiting for you when you arrive.
We still have seedlings available and will until the week after Labor Day. If you are just getting your garden started there are plenty of things you can plant as you still have time to enjoy a harvest from heat loving crops like beans. If you have an established garden and have some open space because your spring crops are done or you lost plants during our long heat wave, make sure you add a natural-based general fertilizer before replanting.

Our current selection of seedlings include sunflowers, basil, marigolds, pole beans, lima beans, kale, purslane, leeks, onions, and more. Head over to our online shop to see each crop variety along with descriptions.
Last Saturday was a very busy market and we sold out fast of our guacamole. We always try to anticipate how many customers we will have on any given Saturday so that we can prepare enough delicious food for everyone. But sometimes our guesstimation are off and we run out of something (or multiple things) before the farmers’ market is over. So this weekend we will try and prepare enough guacamole to last until the market ends at 1pm but if you want to guarantee that you get your share of our guac, order ahead of time through our online shop.

We have been getting a lot of requests for this week’s special, Tacos de Lengua. Tacos de Lengua is a classic Mexican dish consisting of chopped braised beef tongue served on a warm corn tortilla and garnished with pico de gallo. The lengua is tender from a low-and-slow braise in liquid that transforms this odd cut of meat into a juicy, succulent treat. We finish cooking the lengua on the flat top to give it a delicious crispy, browned outer layer. If you have never tried this but love beef we highly recommend you give it a taste.
We hope to see you at the Easton farmers’ market this Saturday for produce, seedlings, tacos, or just a quick hello!
