Plant Your Fall Garden Now

The days are getting shorter. Right now, the sun is setting around 7:30pm, providing us with just under 13 hours of total daylight. By the end of September, the daylight will be less than 12 hours. On Halloween, the sun will set at 6pm and our day length will just be 10 and a half hours long.

So that means now is the time to plant your fall/ winter garden. You want to get your seedlings in the ground this month so they have a chance to grow and get their roots established before our daily daylight dips below 10 hours. In our region November 19th — January 26th are the dates when day length is under 10 hours.

We have a lovely selection of seedlings perfect for transplanting right now including broccoli, leeks, cabbage, cauliflower, dill, lettuce, marigolds, pac choy, and more. Head over our online shop to see the full selection and read all the descriptions.

This past weekend our Tomatillo Salsa fans were out in force and we sold loads of our delicious seasonal salsa. So we are whipping up another batch for this Saturday. To make sure you get some we recommend heading over to our online shop to pre-order it along with our other take home items: pico de gallo, guacamole, or ceviche are all available by the half pint, pint, or quart container.

This Saturday’s Easton farmers’ market special will be our Chicken Mole Taco. We simmer succulent chicken in a rich smokey red mole sauce that is a bit spicy, it is served on a warm corn tortilla garnished with queso fresco. This taco is the perfect start to a September Saturday, we hope to see you soon.
