From Thunder to Tacos: A Mid-July Dispatch

There’s a rhythm to this time of year: one minute it’s blazing sun, the next it’s a thunderstorm crashing through the trees. At Quarter Acre Farm, we’ve been moving to that beat: ducking between raindrops, harvesting juicy cherry tomatoes, transplanting more crops into the field, and keeping the grill fired up for something special.

Saturday’s Take-Home Meal: Beer-Brined Pork Ribs with Green Beans

This week’s ready-to-heat meal is already in high demand: Beer-Brined Pork Ribs with Green Beans. We soak our pork ribs in a flavorful blend of beer, lime juice, salt, black pepper, and water, then finish them on the grill for that deep, smoky char. Served with a side of fresh green beans and a scoop of our signature pico de gallo.

We recommend preordering as this one’s a crowd favorite and it tends to sell out fast! Order here

Taco Time: Chicken Mole at Easton Market

If you’re heading to the Easton farmers’ market this Saturday, come hungry. Our special this week is the Chicken Mole Taco: tender, slow-simmered chicken in a rich, smoky red mole sauce that’s got just a little kick. We serve it on a warm corn tortilla and top it with crumbly queso fresco. One bite and you’ll understand why it never sticks around for long.

We’ll also have a full lineup of market favorites: baskets of cherry tomatoes, heirloom garlic, fresh tomatillos and seedlings. Plus, don’t forget our take-home items. We’re bringing fresh pico de gallo, guacamole, and blue catfish ceviche. We whip up big batches, but they still go fast. If you’ve got your heart set on something (and you have not preordered), we suggest stopping by before 10am!

Peanuts: The Sequel

We’ve gone from “let’s try peanuts” to “let’s do more.” This is our second year growing them, and we’ve committed a full 200 square foot bed to the cause. Last week we finally transplanted them out into the field. We’re a little behind schedule on planting, but we’re optimistic about a bountiful harvest come late October. For now, we’re cheering them on with every afternoon rainstorm.

Seedlings for Your Late-Summer Garden

Still dreaming of fresh garden harvests? It’s not too late. We’ve got some stellar seedlings up for grabs, like:

  • Listada di Gandia Eggplant – lavender-striped, tender, and perfect for the grill
  • Klari Baby Cheese Peppers – squat and snackable with thick walls and rich flavor
  • Rossa di Milano Onions – sweet and spicy with beautiful red-purple skins
  • California Giant Zinnias – because your garden should be tasty and pretty

Snag them while they last, your garden will thank you. Visit our online shop.

We’ll see you Saturday at the Easton farmers’ market; rain or shine, ribs or tacos, tomatoes or tomatillos, it’s always a good time!
