The first of our pumpkins are ready! This week we have a delicious variety called Seminole. These small, cream-colored, bell-shaped fruits are sweeter than a butternut squash. Seminole pumpkin is an heirloom variety that is a staple among the Seminole Native Americans in the Everglades. It has a smooth texture and sweet flavor that is great for pies, soups and baked goods.

With it being fall we are wearing sweatshirts on the regular so we figured it was time for a Quarter Acre Farm one. Our crew neck sweatshirts are made of 100% organic French terry cotton, they are printed locally with our farm logo on the front and our Quarter Acre EATS logo on the back. The sweatshirts are super comfortable with a nice medium weight perfect for lounging on the porch watching the fall colors or hanging in the kitchen while you whip up a pumpkin pie. Head over to our online shop to order yourself one.

We also have our Quarter Acre Farm crops shirt now available in grey, as well as the original green. These unisex t-shirts are made of 100% organic cotton and printed locally. The front lists a few of our favorite crops in Spanish. On the back is our Quarter Acre Farm logo. We expanded the range of sizes too, we have size small to size XXX-large.

It may be fall but we still have some tasty tomatoes, sweet peppers, and hot peppers available. We expect to have these crops until the end of the month but the actual end of the warm weather crop season will depend on Mother Nature and when a hard frost arrives.

This week our special will be our Denver Taco, which is a play on the classic Denver omelet. We saute chopped ham with our sweet peppers and fold them into fluffy scrambled eggs. This deliciousness is served on a warm corn tortilla and garnished with pico de gallo.
Our ceviche this week will be made with blue catfish. Blue catfish, which is an invasive species to the Chesapeake Bay, taste very similar to rockfish, the meat is firm and white with a mildly sweet taste. This year our blue catfish ceviche has become a customer favorite. We hope you can swing by our booth this Saturday!
