Hello November

It is hard to believe that it is November but I feel like I say that every fall particularly once the time change happens. Things are slowing down at the farm, now that we have had a hard freeze killing all our tender tomato and tomatillo plants. The days of harvesting are over for now, as our focus turns to cleaning up the field, putting things away, and getting ready for winter.

But we still have some hardy produce available including garlic and sweet potatoes. This week we have 5 varieties of sweet potatoes available. The classic orange Covington with reddish skin and sweet orange flesh. The big purple tubers of Purple Majesty with purple skin and flesh. The Eastern Shore heirloom Hayman with white skin and flesh (limited quantities available). The dark, sweet, and skinny tubers of Becca’s Purple with deep purple skin and flesh. Another tasty regional heirloom Delaware Purple with purple-red skin and bright white flesh.

We have our sweet potatoes in a range of sizes from teeny tiny to down right huge! All of them are delicious and perfect for your favorite sweet potato dish.

We know this weekend is WaterFowl Festival and many folks worry about visiting the farmers’ market with the crowds and parking. But we assure you after many years of selling at the market on this day, if you get to the market before 10am you will easily find parking and there will be little to no crowds at all. We have found that the WaterFowl folks really do not come out until late morning around 11am. Our booth is always open and ready for you at 8am when the farmers’ market starts.

Not sure what to do the Saturday after Thanksgiving? Well, we invite you to join us for our annual post-Thanksgiving brunch at the Easton Farmers Market on November 30th. We will have tacos, quesadillas, hot soup, lemonade, hot cocoa, and more. To show our gratitude to all our wonderful customers every order that day will receive a free drink or farm tote bag.

This week’s special will be our Chorizo Taco. We use beef chorizo which is a ground sausage that is rich with smoky chili notes and a vivid red hue. We saute it with onions then serve it on a warm corn tortilla garnished with pico de gallo. If you want it to scream breakfast you can have us add on an egg and bacon for extra yumminess!

Our soup this Saturday will be a hearty Beef Stew: delicious beef slowly cooked with vegetables creating a tender and filling meal. We offer our hot soup by the half pint, pint, or quart. Which you can order ahead of time. Our delicious soups are perfect for a quick lunch or part of an extravagant dinner. When making the soups we do not use any preservatives so they must be kept refrigerated or can be frozen for later use.

We can’t wait to see you this Saturday!
