There’s something magical about this time of year on the farm. The air smells like freshly turned soil, the greenhouse is bursting with green plants, and the promise of tomatoes is finally taking shape in the field. After weeks of prep, we’re thrilled to say our first tomatillos and cherry tomatoes are officially in the ground! 🎉

Let’s be honest: getting those little plants into their new home is no small feat. This week has been a real dance of farming steps: rototilling, measuring and shaping beds, adding amendments, laying kraft paper and drip tape, and finally, the satisfying rhythm of planting seedlings one by one (with 24 inch spacing, of course this isn’t our first tomato rodeo).
We still have about 2,000 more tomato seedlings waiting patiently for their moment in the sun, so you can bet we’ll be mulching, prepping, and planting like champs over the next few days and weeks.

We have already peeled back the tarp on the next planting section, revealing a space of dried-up grasses and sleepy soil. After a quick spin with the Grillo (our trusty two-wheeled Italian tractor), we’re getting those next beds shaped and ready for another round of tomato babies.
Have you started transplanting your tomatoes yet?
If not, don’t worry! We’ve got locally grown, garden-ready seedlings available every Saturday at the Easton farmers’ market, and even more varieties listed in our online shop. Since they’re raised right here on the farm, they’re tough, acclimated, and eager to thrive in your local garden.
This Week at the Market: Fresh Eats for Spring
We’re not just growing plants, we’re serving up flavor too! This week’s frozen Ready-to-Heat Meal is colorful, vegan Veggie Fajitas with Cilantro Rice. Think sweet peppers, corn, onions, and garlic sautéed to perfection, paired with fluffy rice infused with fresh cilantro. It’s easy, satisfying, and perfect for busy spring evenings.
Don’t forget our blue catfish ceviche, made with simple ingredients and no preservatives, just lime juice, tomatoes, onion, cilantro, salt, and pepper. It’s as fresh as it gets, and every bite helps protect the Chesapeake Bay from invasive species. Tastes good and does good!

Celebrate Mother’s Day the Local Way
This weekend is Mother’s Day, and we can’t think of a better way to celebrate than a sunny stroll through the Easton farmers’ market. Grab a taco, sip some lemonade, pick out a few plants, and spend time soaking up the local vibes.
Whether you’re shopping for Mom or just treating yourself, we’ll be there with all the good stuff, seedlings, fresh food, and friendly faces. See you this Saturday at the Easton farmers’ market, 8 AM to 12 PM!
