We hope everyone stayed safe during the smoky days we had on the Eastern Shore last week. For us it brought back memories of living and farming in California during wildfire season. Since we have had some experience with these terrible conditions we knew that the smoke was no joke and that it can have long lasting effects on your body. So anytime we went outside we put our N95 masks on and once the air quality went into the red (or above) we stayed inside and did not work outside. So that meant more than 2 days of no field work, which has put us a little behind schedule but that is fine as the health of our bodies and our workers is far more important. To check the air quality where you are check out this site: www.airnow.gov

This will be the last week that we will be offering tomato seedlings for sale so all of our tomato seedlings are just $2 each! We have a fun selection of heirlooms available in many different sizes, colors, and flavors. But we only have a few cherry tomato seedlings left.

Now is still a great time to transplant tomatoes, we are in the middle of putting our second succession in the field. By transplanting now we are able to extend the tomato harvest into the fall. We will actually do a small third succession at the beginning of July which will allow us to have a steady supply of tomatoes until early November or whenever the first hard frost shows up. So head over to our online shop and pick up a few tomatoes to add to your garden. We also have some new seedlings available this week including cucumbers, zinnias, patty pan summer squash, collards, and more.
The garlic scape pesto was a big hit this past Saturday so we will be offering it again this week. You can order it in 3 sizes: half pint, pint, or quart. In celebration of all things garlic scapes, this week’s farmers market special will be Pesto con Papas Quesadilla. This delicious special will be our garlic scape pesto spread over a flour tortilla topped with a blend of cheeses and roasted potatoes then folded in half and garnished with pico de gallo.

We have some new swag, Quarter Acre Farm EATS hats! Our grey adidas caps are made of sustainably produced cotton and have been embroidered locally. They are available in our online shop for local pick up along with our t-shirts and tote bags. For our out of town fans, we are working on adding a shipping option to our online shop, so stay tuned!
