We are often asked if folks can come out to visit our farm, but our place is not typically open to the public … except when we have a gleaning event! This Thursday on August 8th, come to our farm to glean cherry tomatoes for the Maryland Food Bank. Gleaning starts at 7pm but if you’d like to enjoy a short farm tour please arrive at 6:30pm.

What is gleaning? Gleaning is simply the act of harvesting excess fresh foods from farms, gardens, farmers’ markets, or other sources in order to provide it to those in need. All the cherry tomatoes harvested during our gleaning event will be delivered by the Farm to Food Bank Program to local food pantries.
We really hope you can join us! If you are interested, you must register as a volunteer with the MD Food Bank and then sign up for our August 8th gleaning. Click here to register with the Food Bank.
If you can’t make it this week don’t worry we try to have tomato gleaning events multiple times during the season. Stay tuned as once they are scheduled we will announce them here, to our email list, on our Facebook page, and on our Instagram page .
Our heirloom tomato harvest has finally started. We grow 20 different varieties and they are all starting to ripen. With this mix of varieties we have tomatoes in many different colors, shapes, and sizes. At the farmers’ market we offer them by the pound so you can select exactly what you’d like. Maybe you are looking for a huge tomato to be able to have 1 large slice per piece of bread for your sandwich, or maybe you want small ones that you can quarter to throw in a salad, or you’re interested in kinda of medium sized ones that you can roast whole in the oven for a quick rustic sauce. We got you covered!

With perfectly beautiful heirloom tomatoes comes tomato seconds, ones that are a little rough around the edges. These seconds have physical imperfections like blemishes, splits, uneven ripening or may be on the softer side. This makes them an excellent choice for processing right away to make sauce, soup, salsa, etc. If you’d like to get your hands on seconds you will need to order ahead of time through our online shop, as we don’t bring them to market unless someone has ordered them. The mixed heirloom tomato seconds are available by the pound at just $2.50 per pound.
With our heirloom tomatoes ripening our pico de gallo gets more colorful. To be able to offer pico de gallo for the entire farmers’ market season we have to buy in tomatoes when we do not have any in the field. The tomatoes we purchase are always just red making for a red pico de gallo with specks of green from the minced cilantro and pops of white from the chopped onions. But since we grow so many varieties of tomatoes we have red ones, pink ones, yellow ones, purple ones, brown ones, ones with stripes, and various colors in between. This makes for a delicious pico de gallo that resembles confetti with its mix of colors.

Back by popular demand, this Saturday’s special will be our Steak Taco, sliced steak sauteed with onions served on a warm corn tortilla and garnished with pico de gallo. Simple but simply delicious, get to the Easton farmers’ market before 10:30am as we tend to sell out of this special quick!
