The cherry tomato plants are stretching skyward, the walkways between the rows are narrowing, and the unmistakable hum of July has arrived at the farm. (I’m looking at you, dog-day cicadas.)
We’ve officially entered that time of year when tomato vines start behaving more like trees, offering their own bit of leafy shade as we weave through the beds. Our cherry tomato jungle is alive and thriving and the harvests are picking up pace.

If you’ve visited our booth at the Easton farmers’ market lately, you’ve seen the colorful results: pints of juicy, sun-ripened cherry tomatoes in every shade of red, purple, yellow, and even pink. One of our favorites this year is Pink Princess, a blushing beauty that delivers old-fashioned tomato flavor in a compact little package. It’s been a long search to find the perfect pink cherry variety and this one just might be it.

Another standout from the mix is Esterina, one of our longtime favorites. This bright yellow cherry is not too small and not too big. It delivers a clean, juicy sweetness that keeps you coming back for more. We’ve been growing Esterina for many years — and for good reason. It’s incredibly productive, disease resistant, and crack-free, with large, showy clusters that make harvesting a joy.

What’s Happening in the Field
These early July weeks are a special time on the farm full of movement, color, and the constant hum of “what’s next.” Here’s what we’ve been up to lately:
- Harvesting cherry tomatoes and tomatillos
- Cleaning and sorting our heirloom garlic
- Tying up tomato plants and watching the jungle thicken
- Making and shaping new beds to plant for late summer and fall
- Getting those seedlings ready for your gardens
And just on the horizon? Our first big heirloom tomato harvest. We’ve had a few sneak peeks (and yes, a few test sandwiches), and we expect to have them at market very soon.

Saturday
Our special this week is Salsa Verde Pork Tacos! Slow-cooked pork simmered in our tangy tomatillo salsa, served warm on a corn tortilla. A savory, satisfying way to start your Saturday.
Whether you’re stocking up for a weekend cookout or looking to add some life to your garden, we hope to see you this Saturday at the Easton farmers’ market. Come early, bring your market bags, and let’s celebrate this flavorful time of year together.
