Sweet Potato Slips Are Here: Pre-Order Now!

June is here and the farm is absolutely humming. The days are long, everything is growing fast, and we have some exciting new arrivals to tell you about for this Saturday, June 6th at the Easton farmers’ market.

Out in the field, we are still getting beds ready and transplanting tomatoes, with next on the list being sweet potato slips and even a few peanuts to plant. It is that time of year when the to-do list never quite gets shorter, but the progress is deeply satisfying.

Sweet Potato Slips Are Here (Pre-Order Only)

If you have been thinking about growing sweet potatoes this year, the time is now. Our certified organic sweet potato slips are ready and we have two varieties available this season.

Hayman is a beloved Eastern Shore heirloom with white flesh and a rich, sweet flavor that has been grown in this region for generations.
Delaware Purple has a distinctive purple-red skin with smooth, slightly sweet white flesh.

Both are perfectly suited to the sandy loam (or clay) soils of the Eastern Shore and ready to go in the ground right now. Important: Sweet potato slips are available by pre-order only this Saturday. We will not be bringing extra slips to sell at the booth, so if you want them, you must order ahead. Head over to quarter-acre.com/shop to place your order for Saturday pickup before Thursday, June 4th at 8pm. Do not miss this one.

Garlic Scapes and Pesto: Still Here, But Not for Long

We are still harvesting garlic scapes and will have them available by the bunch this Saturday, along with our fresh garlic scape pesto by the container. Made from our own garlic scapes, olive oil, parmesan cheese, spinach, walnuts, kosher salt, and black pepper, with no fillers and no preservatives. It goes beautifully with pasta, sandwiches, pizza, seafood, and anything that needs a garlicky punch. Keep it refrigerated or pop it in the freezer to enjoy long after the scape season ends. And that season will end soon. We cannot stress this enough: do not wait on these.

Brighten Your Garden with Flower Seedlings

June is a wonderful time to add some color and blooms to your garden, and we have a beautiful selection of certified organic flower seedlings this Saturday:

Mammoth Sunflower is the giant of all sunflowers, with tall thick stalks supporting enormous heads that tower over the garden. A fast and vigorous grower beloved by birds, bees, and kids alike.

Elves Blend Sunflower is a delightful dwarf variety that is big on charm. Perfect for smaller spaces, containers, or the front of a garden border where you want all the cheerfulness of sunflowers without the towering height.

Pinwheel Marigold is a stunning medley of brilliant red and yellow petals on each bloom. Easy to grow, incredibly prolific, and covered in pollinators for months on end.

Chamomile is technically an herb but beloved for its sweet-scented daisy-like flowers. This self-seeding annual is easy to grow and the flowers can be harvested and dried for herbal teas. A gentle and beautiful addition to any garden.

All flower seedlings are $5.00 per 3-inch fiber pot and available for pre-order at quarter-acre.com/shop for Saturday pickup.

This Week’s Taco Special: Steak Taco

A classic for good reason. Thinly sliced seared steak with onions, served on a warm corn tortilla and garnished with our fresh pico de gallo. Simple, satisfying, and always a crowd favorite.

Take-Home Frozen Meal: Garlic Scape Pesto Pasta with Meatballs

A perfect way to bring that garlic scape flavor home: penne pasta tossed with our house-made garlic scape pesto and tender handmade meatballs that are a blend of beef and pork. Just pick up a meal at our booth, take it home, and heat it up whenever you are ready.

Order Online for Market Pickup

A reminder that sweet potato slips are pre-order only and all orders must be placed by Thursday at 8pm. Given how fast things move on a busy June Saturday we strongly encourage garlic scapes, pesto, and other take-home food items to be pre-ordered at quarter-acre.com/shop so you don’t miss out. We cannot wait to see you this Saturday at the Easton farmers’ market from 8am to 12pm, rain or shine!
