The greenhouse is absolutely full right now and we could not be more excited about what we are bringing to the Easton Farmers’ Market this Saturday, May 2nd. We are getting into peak seedling season at Quarter Acre Farm and we have more variety than ever.

Seedlings Galore
New this week are celery, celeriac, and mint seedlings, joining our already impressive lineup of cool-weather seedlings including lettuce, kale, mustard greens, Swiss chard, parsley, onions, leeks, and more.
On the summer side, we have peppers, eggplant, tomatillos, and ground cherries. And for the tomato lovers: this season we have 21 different varieties, spanning an incredible range of shapes, sizes, and colors. Whether you are a cherry tomato devotee or an heirloom enthusiast, there is something here for every garden.

All of our seedlings are certified organic and come in 3-inch fiber pots so you can transplant the whole thing right into your garden with zero waste. Quantities on some varieties are limited, so we strongly encourage you to order ahead at quarter-acre.com/shop to make sure you get exactly what you want.
Growing Our Pawpaw Patch
While the seedling tables get most of the attention this time of year, there is a quieter project happening in a corner of the greenhouse: our pawpaw seeds.

For the last five years or so, we have been working to establish a small pawpaw tree orchard here on the farm. Every September we gather pounds of pawpaw fruit from local growers and wild foragers, eat our fill, and save all the seeds. Those seeds spend the winter in the refrigerator, and each April we plant them in large deep pots in the greenhouse. We typically grow the saplings for a year or two before transplanting them out to the pawpaw patch. All of our trees are still quite young and have not started to flower yet, though that late frost a week or so ago killed some of their leaves. We are hopeful that in a few more years we will have fruit to harvest, because pawpaws are truly something special. We will keep you posted.
This Week’s Taco Special: Chorizo Taco
Fuel your market morning with something warm and flavorful. This Saturday we are serving up Chorizo Tacos: sautéed beef chorizo with onions, served on a warm corn tortilla and topped with our fresh pico de gallo. Want to make it a breakfast taco? Just add a scrambled egg. Our full standard menu of tacos and quesadillas will also be available.
Take-Home Frozen Meal: Garlic Scape Pesto Pasta with Meatballs
This Saturday’s ready-to-heat frozen meal is a cozy one: penne pasta tossed with our house-made garlic scape pesto and tender handmade meatballs. Perfect for evenings when you would rather spend less time cooking and more time savoring. Just heat, serve, and enjoy. Last week we sold out of take-home meals about halfway through the market, so if you want to guarantee this one we recommend pre-ordering through the online shop.
Order Online for Market Pickup
Place your order at quarter-acre.com/shop and pick it up right at our booth. Pre-orders must be placed by Thursday, May 1st at 8pm. If you prefer to wait to shop in person, plan to arrive before 10am for access to the widest selection of our offerings. We cannot wait to see you Saturday!
