Welcome to October: Soup and Hot Cocoa Are Back

October starts today and with it comes one of our favorite seasonal transitions at our farmers’ market booth: hot soup and hot cocoa! We will be serving both of these fall favorites starting this Saturday, October 3rd until our last market of the season on December 12th.

Soup Is Back: Roasted Heirloom Tomato Soup!

There is no better way to kick off soup season than with a bowl made from our own heirloom tomatoes. This Saturday we are serving our Roasted Heirloom Tomato Soup: roasted heirloom tomatoes and garlic pureed with onions and fresh basil. Vegan, gluten-free, and absolutely delicious. Perfect for a quick market lunch or as part of a cozy dinner at home. Available hot by the half pint, pint, or quart. We do not use any preservatives, so keep it refrigerated or pop it in the freezer to enjoy later. Our soup will change every week so keep an eye out for what is coming next!

Hot Cocoa Is Back Too!

We have also brought back our delicious hot cocoa mix. Our dairy-free mix is made from cocoa powder, powdered sugar, coconut milk powder, kosher salt, and a touch of cinnamon. We handcraft this mix to be creamy, chocolatey, and guaranteed to remind you of the hot chocolate of your childhood. Pick up a hot cup at the market or take home a one pound bag of the mix to enjoy when you can’t be at the market.

A Note on Ceviche

With soup season underway our Ceviche Tostada has wrapped up for the year. However if you love our blue catfish ceviche and want to take some home, it is still available by the pint through pre-order at quarter-acre.com/shop. We will only bring it to the market if it is ordered ahead of time.

This Week’s Special: Chicken Fajita Taco

Roasted chicken with sauteed bell peppers and onions, all tucked into a warm corn tortilla and topped with our fresh pico de gallo. Fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. After debuting this new special a few weeks ago we have gotten so many requests for it so we had to bring it back.

Take-Home Frozen Meal: Steak Fajitas with Cilantro Rice

This Saturday’s ready-to-heat frozen meal is a satisfying one: sliced steak with sweet peppers, onions, and garlic, served with a side of vibrant cilantro rice. Just pick it up at the booth, take it home, and heat it up whenever you are ready.

Where Are the Tomatoes?

We still have tomatoes growing out in the field and we are still harvesting cherry and heirloom tomatoes but their quantity is very limited due to cooler temperatures, shorter days, and the huge influx of caterpillars we have had this season who are attempting to eat every single fruit out here. So we are bringing what tomatoes we have to the market but it is not the normal quantity or display we typically have this time of year. We recommend getting to the market early or ordering ahead at quarter-acre.com/shop to guarantee your favorites for Saturday pickup.

We cannot wait to welcome you into October with a warm bowl of soup and a cup of hot cocoa this Saturday at the Easton farmers’ market!
