This week I picked my first two baskets of cherry tomatoes! Enough plants had just one or two ripe fruits, allowing me to fill my baskets.
The plants still have some more growing to do and the rest of the fruit is dead green but, the harvest is starting. What seems like a slow roll into the juicy tomato season, will be moving at the speed of light soon enough (think pinball machine). Even though I know the non-stop work that a tomato harvest produces, I can’t wait.

I can’t wait to fill basket after basket with cherry tomatoes. I can’t wait to make intricate tomato displays at the market. I can’t wait to have big fat heirloom tomato sandwiches whenever I want. I can’t wait to taste the new tomato varieties I grew this year. I can’t wait to freeze sauce made with all the soft and split tomatoes. I just can’t wait for the abundance that tomato season brings!
