Quarter Acre Farm, located on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, is rolling into October with the kind of cozy, flavor-packed weekend that makes fall a wonderful season.
There’s a rhythm to October that feels different from any other month. The mornings are chilly with fog that lingers longer than you expect, but the days warm up, making shorts the appropriate outfit for harvesting in, and then sunset shows up earlier than you think.
At Quarter Acre Farm, the rows are a blend of seasons with summer’s last cherry tomatoes alongside the pumpkins and hot peppers. And this Saturday at the Easton farmers’ market, that in-between feeling will be deliciously clear: comforting soup, rich tacos, and a ready-to-heat meal made for cozy nights in.

A Warm Start to October: Roasted Tomato Soup
Our Roasted Tomato Soup celebrates the very end of our heirloom tomato season. We roast our heirloom tomatoes with garlic and onions until caramelized, then blend them with basil into a smooth, bright, and deeply flavorful soup. It’s the kind of simple comfort that makes a fall evening feel complete.
Available in half-pint, pint, and quart sizes; perfect for lunch at the market or a quick dinner at home. All soups are preservative-free, so they’re best enjoyed fresh or frozen for later.
Pro tip: pair a pint of soup with our frozen take-home meal for the easiest weeknight meal of autumn.
If you’ve tried our soups before, let us know your favorite flavor in the comments or tell us which one you hope to see next!
Tacos de Lengua: A Market Favorite Returns
Our taco special this Saturday is one that always gets people talking, and coming back for seconds. Our Tacos de Lengua are made with tender beef tongue from Marble Head Farm, whose booth is right across the aisle from us at the market.
We braise the lengua low and slow until it’s meltingly tender, then cube it up and serve it on a warm corn tortilla with our fresh pico de gallo. The result is a taco that’s both deeply savory and full of character.
It’s one of Chef Juan Carlos’s favorites, and if you’ve ever trusted his taco instincts, you know that means it’s worth the trip.
Will you be trying the Lengua Taco this weekend? We’d love to hear your verdict, brave first-timer or repeat fan?

Take-Home Meal: Grilled Pork Loin Chop with Roasted Potatoes
Your freezer deserves a little fall comfort too. This week’s frozen ready-to-heat meal is Grilled Boneless Pork Loin Chop with Roasted Potatoes and a side of Pico de Gallo.
The pork is grilled for a perfect sear, the potatoes roasted until golden, and the pico adds a pop of fresh acidity to tie it all together. It’s a hearty, no-fuss dinner you can reheat and enjoy on any cool October evening; ideal for busy weeknights or when you need something satisfying without starting from scratch.
Perfect for busy weeknights, grab one at the market or pre-order online through our Quarter Acre Farm online shop so dinner’s already handled.
Tomato Season Update
We’re savoring the last stretch of tomato season. Our cherry tomato harvest is still going strong, offering those sweet bursts of summer flavor that brighten salads, tacos, and just about everything else.
But our heirloom tomato plants have slowed down. We are harvesting just a few pounds of fruit and using it to make our housemade pico de gallo. We won’t have any heirloom tomatoes by the pound for the rest of the year, so if you’re craving that flavor, grab some pico or a pint of cherry tomatoes while they last.
