Summer is in full swing at Quarter Acre Farm and the field is delivering. Our cherry tomatoes are back for their second week at the Easton farmers’ market and the season ahead is looking incredibly promising.
13 Varieties, One Spectacular Season

This year we are growing thirteen certified organic cherry tomato varieties in the field, and that range is what makes our pints so fun and so different from anything you will find at a grocery store. We are talking an extraordinary mix of colors, shapes, and sizes. From deep chocolate browns to cosmic purples, sunny yellows, blush pinks and of course classic red. The varieties we are growing this season include Cannellino, Chocolate Sprinkles, Citrine, Cosmic Purple, Indigo Cherry Drops, Magic Bullet, Pink Princess, Purple Bumble, Queen Bee, Sakura, Sunrise Bumble, Supernova, and Tropical Sunset.
Each pint reflects what is ripening in the field that week, so the mix shifts as the season develops. What stays the same is that every tomato is certified organic, grown right here on our farm in Caroline County, and picked at peak ripeness for every Saturday market.

Cherry tomatoes tend to go fast, so we strongly encourage ordering ahead at quarter-acre.com/shop to guarantee yours.
Georgian Crystal Heirloom Garlic Is Back
Our Georgian Crystal heirloom garlic is back at the booth this Saturday and if you have not picked some up yet it is absolutely worth adding to your bag. This beautiful porcelain hardneck variety originated in the Republic of Georgia and produces bulbs with easy-to-peel cloves. Eaten raw it has a bold, noticeable bite, but roast it low and slow and it transforms into something altogether different: smooth, rich, and deeply sweet. The kind of garlic that makes a simple roasted bulb feel like a revelation. It adds incredible complexity to sauces, soups, and everyday cooking, and once you have cooked with it you will understand why we are so proud to grow it.

Marigolds: The Hardest Working Plant in Your Garden
If you have not added marigolds to your garden yet this season, this Saturday is a great opportunity. Beyond their cheerful good looks, marigolds are one of the hardest working plants you can grow alongside your vegetables. Their scent naturally deters common garden pests while their blooms attract the pollinators that help your tomatoes, peppers, squash, and cucumbers produce more fruit. We have three beautiful certified organic varieties available at $5.00 per 3-inch fiber pot:
Crackerjack Marigold brings big, puffy 3 to 4 inch flowers in shades of yellow, gold, and orange on tall 3 to 4 foot plants. A bold and cheerful presence in any garden.
Pinwheel Marigold offers a delightful medley of brilliant red and yellow petals on each bloom. Easy to grow, prolific, and covered in pollinators for months on end.
Sparky Marigold combines yellow, gold, orange, and red blooms on compact 10 to 12 inch plants, perfect for smaller spaces or container gardens. Double flowers with smooth, elegant petals.
This Week’s Special: Tacos de Lengua
A traditional Mexican taco that is bold, rich, and one of our most popular specials every time it appears on the menu. Tender beef tongue braised low and slow, then chopped and quickly grilled, served on warm corn tortillas and garnished with our fresh pico de gallo. If you have never tried lengua before, this is the perfect introduction.
Take-Home Frozen Meal: Grilled Pork Loin Chop
This Saturday’s ready-to-heat frozen meal is a satisfying one: a grilled boneless pork loin chop served with roasted white sweet potatoes and a side of fresh pico de gallo. Simple, wholesome, and full of flavor. Pick it up at the booth, take it home, and heat it up whenever you are ready.
Browse our full selection of take-home items, produce, and seedlings at quarter-acre.com/shop and place your order by Thursday, July 16th at 8pm for Saturday pickup. If you prefer to shop in person, plan to arrive before 10am, cherry tomatoes go fast and this Saturday will be no exception.
With thirteen varieties ripening in the field and peak summer finally here, this is exactly the kind of Saturday morning at the Easton farmers’ market that reminds us why we do this work. We cannot wait to share it with you this Saturday from 8am to 12pm.
